Types of snow chains
Snow chains can be divided into three types: iron snow chains, leather snow chains, and wire rope snow chains according to the material.
1.Iron snow chains
Iron snow chains are the earliest snow chains used in automobiles. They are made of ordinary iron chains in a special shape and wrapped around the wheels. Its advantages are good anti-skid effect, low price, strong and durable; the disadvantages are loud noise, difficult disassembly and assembly, relatively heavy, and serious tire wear. It is usually used in large trucks, construction machinery, and other vehicles, and some off-road vehicles with rough terrain also use this snow chain, but it is rarely used in family cars.
2.Leather anti-skid chains
Leather snow chains are divided into two types, one is polyurethane snow chains, which are commonly known as beef tendon snow chains. Its anti-skid effect is average, and it is not durable. It is scrapped after one or two users, but it is cheap and applicable. It is suitable for short-term use on ordinary ice and snow roads; there is also a rubber snow chain, which is made of high-elasticity and wear-resistant rubber, which has the advantages of low-temperature resistance, wear resistance, good elasticity, strong friction, and good tensile strength. It can also be used for a long time, but the disadvantage is that it is more expensive. Its anti-skid effect is worse than that of beef tendon anti-skid chains but not as good as iron chains, which are suitable for long-term use in ordinary family vehicles.
3.Wire rope anti-skid chains
The steel wire rope anti-skid chain is a new type of anti-skid chain that has appeared in recent years. It is made of a special wire rope and wrapped around the wheel to play a non-slip effect. Its structure is relatively simple, the installation is convenient, and the service life is long. The disadvantage is that the tire wears more and the price is a little expensive. It can be used on most models.
